Supercharge levels were introduced as part of the September 2024 update and are new temporary upgrades that are available to players at the highest Town Hall level who have fully upgraded. This guide provides an overview of what Supercharge levels are, the differences compared to standard upgrade levels and upgrade strategy guidance for which order they should be upgraded.
How do they differ from standard upgrade levels?
Supercharge InfoThe main differences between Supercharge levels and standard are upgrade levels are:
- They are cheaper, shorter to complete upgrades.
- They have a smaller impact on the building attributes.
- They are temporary and are removed when a new standard upgrade level is released.
- They have the same appearance as the standard upgrade, however they appear to be electrically charged.
Upgrade costs and durations
Level upgrade comparisonsComparing the upgrade levels for the X-Bow, the level 11 upgrade takes 15 days and costs 21 million Gold however the Supercharge levels for it only takes 4 days 12 hours and 6 days 12 hours and cost 10M Gold and 6.25M Gold respectively (that isn’t a mistake, the cost for Charge level 2 is less than Charge level 1). These lower costs and shorter upgrade times may help with planning your upgrades to ensure builder availability amongst longer upgrades.
As with standard level upgrades, Supercharge level upgrades still require use of a Builder for the duration of the upgrade.
Attribute impacts
Main level upgrade vs Supercharge upgradeComparing the upgrade levels for the X-Bow again, the level 11 upgrade adds 20 DPS (~10%) and 200 HP (~5%) and the Supercharge levels add 10 DPS (~4%) and 100 HP (~2%). This makes them less impactful than the main upgrade levels, so may mean you wish to prioritise upgrading the main levels of other buildings over the Supercharge levels.
Temporary
Unlike standard upgrades, Supercharge level upgrades aren’t permanent. They are only active until the next standard level is released for that building and then they are removed.
Appearance
Supercharged buildings still have the same appearance as the standard upgrade level, however they have a blue electric charge effect that intensifies as they are upgraded to higher charge levels.
What do they do?
There are either 2 or 3 Supercharge levels available depending on the type of building:
Defenses (2 charge levels)
Increases damage output of the defense.
Increases the hit points of the defense.
Collectors (3 charge levels)
Increases capacity of the collector.
Increases the production rate of the collector.
Increases the hit points of the collector.
Why are they temporary?
When new levels are added in Clash of Clans, it increases the overall time to max out a village. For end game players, adding new upgrade levels provides them with new content for their village, however for players starting out or still working through the lower Town Hall levels, it means it will take them longer to reach the end goal of having a maxed out village.
By making these upgrades temporary, when the next Town Hall level is released and these temporary levels are reset, those lower level players will no longer need to complete those upgrades to have been maxed for that Town Hall level. In addition to this, as these upgrades have a smaller impact to the building attributes compared to standard upgrade levels, players may decide to skip completing some of these temporary upgrades and they would still be able to immediately upgrade to the next standard level without needing to complete them first.
When are they reset?
Supercharge levels are reset when a new level for the building is released. If a new Town Hall level is released and a new building level isn’t included as part of the initial upgrades available, the Supercharge levels would remain available.
