The October 2025 update for Clash of Clans reworks multiplayer battles by splitting them into two modes (battles and ranked battles), changes how shields and revenge attacks work, reworks Spring Traps in both villages and brings a number of cost and time reductions.
Multiplayer Battles Changes
Multiplayer battles are being split into two different battle types, Battles and Ranked Battles.
Battles
Battles are available from Town Hall 2, players can endlessly attack for resources, to complete challenges and practice without needing to worry about losing trophies.
Ranked Battles
Ranked Battles are available from Town Hall 7 and are weekly tournaments where players have a limited number of attacks and defenses in order to earn as many trophies as they can. Players at the top of the league will be promoted and players at the bottom of the league will be demoted. Players can work their way up the leagues until eventually reaching the highest league: Legends League.
The number of attacks/defenses per week varies by league, increasing for the higher leagues.
Attacks/Defenses per leagueBattle Modifiers
In order to increase the competitiveness of the top 4 leagues, Battle Modifiers are in effect in these leagues, affecting Hero HP and damage, as well as the DPS on defenses.
Battle ModifiersTown Hall Floors
Each Town Hall has a league floor which will prevent it being demoted further. This helps prevent lower TH levels from facing high level opponents.
League FloorsRevenge
With villages being able to be attacked while under Magic Shield, the Revenge button will now work!
- Any battle that triggers a Magic Shield for the defending player is eligible for Revenge within the Eligible Revenge Period
- In Revenge attacks, players can win loot (generated from the system like during a regular Shadow Base attack), League Bonus and Stars (counts towards Daily Star Bonus)
- To incentivise using Revenge, revenge attacks will always have at least the amount of loot stolen from the original attack that triggered the Revenge.
Shield and Guard Changes
With the upcoming changes to battles, shield and guard mechanics are being updated.
-
Village Guard is being removed
-
Shield is being replaced with Magic Shield
-
Awarded when 30% or more of the available loot is stolen
-
Magic shield is always 8 hours
-
Villages with an active Magic Shield can be attacked, however the attack will always be a Shadow Base
-
Loot for these attacks is generated by the economy
-
The attack will appear within the defense log, but will show a Magic Shield icon to indicate no actual loot was taken from the defender
-
Players cannot see when they have attacked a Shadow Base
-
Attacking with an active Magic Shield has no effect on the remaining time for the shield. This removes the downside from attacking while shielded.
-
A Magic Shield can be purchased in the Shop:
-
1 day: 100 Gems with 4 day cooldown
-
2 days: 150 Gems with 7 day cooldown
-
1 week: 250 Gems with 35 day cooldown
-
Players can choose to remove their Magic Shield
-
Players in Legend League will have the option to purchase a Legend Shield from the Shop, which is different from the Magic Shield, which protects loot in Battles.
-
The Legend Shield allows players to take a break in Legend League.
-
It applies to the following League day.
-
Players may not attack or be attacked while under a Legend Shield.
Spring Trap Rework
The previously announced Spring Trap rework will be coming in this update.
- If the troop is less than or equal to the spring capacity, it is ejected
- Otherwise, damage is applied and the troop is thrown into the air for a short while
Heroes, Pets and Siege Machines take 50% of the damage shown. New Spring Trap levels are also being added.
Spring Trap ReworkTown Hall Weapon Levels Removal
Also previously mentioned, the weapon levels for Townhalls 12, 13, 14 & 15 will have their weapon levels removed.
- Those Town Hall levels will still be weaponised, the same way Town Hall 16 works.
- The weapons will have the stats of the current maximum level
- Any ongoing upgrades on update day will be cancelled with no resources refunded.
Town Hall 17 is unaffected by this change.
Hero Level Adjustments
Hero Level Adjustments5 levels for the Barbarian King, Archer Queen and Grand Warden are being moved from TH15 to TH14.
This is to smooth out distribution of Hero levels across those Town Halls.

- Yetimites spawned by Yetis and Super Yetis taking damage will correctly spawn scattered around the Yeti, rather than on top of each other.
- Fixed an issue where Goblin Researcher info texts would reference “building” instead of “researching”.
- Fix bug where Grand Warden could sometimes die while auto-activating Eternal Tome ability if there was too much incoming damage at precisely the same moment.
- Fix bug where units would sometimes get stuck inside Walls after Heroic Torch ability runs out.
- Fix erroneous interaction between penetrating projectiles and units protected with Ice Block spell. The spell did not protect units with very low hit points properly.
- Fix erroneous interaction between underground units and Ice Block spell. The spell did not freeze them properly.
