What is O.T.T.O?
O.T.T.O is an invention created by the Master Builder available at Builder Hall 9. Once unlocked, O.T.T.O takes over primary building duties in the Builder Base, freeing up the Master Builder to complete additional upgrades within the Builder Base or travel to the Home Village as an additional builder allowing you to have up to 6 builders.
How is O.T.T.O unlocked?
O.T.T.O is unlocked once the O.T.T.O Hut has been upgraded to level 5. The O.T.T.O Hut can be constructed as soon as the Builder Hall has completed upgrading to level 9, however levels 2 to 5 are unlocked by completing the requirements:
Level |
Requirements |
1 |
Construct the O.T.T.O Hut |
2 |
Gear Up 3 buildings |
3 |
Upgrade the Cannon Cart to level 18 |
4 |
Upgrade the Mega Tesla to level 9 |
5 |
Upgrade the Battle Machine to level 30 |
As the requirement for each level is completed, it is possible to upgrade the O.T.T.O Hut to that level. Although upgrading to each level is immediate, the Master Builder needs to be available to complete the upgrade. If you attempt to upgrade when the Master Builder is busy with another upgrade, you will be prompted to complete the current upgrade with gems in order to upgrade the O.T.T.O Hut.
Tapping on the O.T.T.O Hut shows the upgrade requirementsWhen the O.T.T.O Hut is ready to be upgraded (due to the requirements for the next level being met), an info bubble appears above the O.T.T.O Hut that says “Upgrade”.
When the O.T.T.O Hut can be upgraded, a notification bubble is displayedTips to unlock O.T.T.O quickly
You will need to have upgraded to Builder Hall 9 in order to be able to construct the O.T.T.O Hut, however you can start to work towards the other requirements before then:
Requirement 2: Gear up 3 buildings
The 3 defences that you’ll need to gear up are a Cannon, Archer Tower and Mortar. You can only gear up 1 of each structure rather. There are some requirements for each:

When you start to gear up a defence, the Master Builder travels to Home Village in his own boat and performs the upgrade, however the gold required for the upgrade is Home Village gold rather than Builder Base gold. This means he will be unavailable to carry out any upgrades within the Builder Base. Because of this, it may be worth using a Book of Building from Clan Games or from the Season Challenges in order to immediately complete the Archer Tower and Mortar Gear Up in order to allow him to return to the Builder Base and continue upgrades there.
Requirement 3: Upgrade the Cannon Cart to level 18
The Cannon Cart is available at Builder Hall 5 once the Builder Barracks have been upgraded to level 7. This means you can research the lower levels in the laboratory whilst upgrading other structures.
When prioritising laboratory upgrades, it is best to upgrade one or two of the main troops you use for attacking and then focus on the Cannon Cart. This will allow you to win more battles due to attacking with troops that are a suitable strength, but still make progress towards this requirement for unlocking O.T.T.O.
Requirement 4: Upgrade the Mega Tesla to level 9
The Mega Tesla is available at Builder Hall 8. It is worth prioritising upgrading this once your reach BH8 as it is the only requirement that costs Builder Base gold to upgrade, allowing the elixir to be used for upgrading the Cannon Cart and Battle Machine.
Requirement 5: Upgrade the Battle Machine to level 30
This is possibly the toughest of the requirements as a lot of elixir is required to reach level 30. Focus on upgrading the troops you use for attacks and Cannon Carts as a priority, then use any remaining elixir for upgrading the Battle Machine. Once these troops are upgraded, upgrading the Battle Machine can be the priority for elixir. This approach helps increase the firepower from your army troops to increase your trophy count for higher rewards, and will also help win battles when you are unable to use the Battle Machine due to it upgrading.
General Tips
Prioritise the following structure upgrades at each Builder Hall level:
- Gold Mines, Elixir Collectors and storages - This increases daily income and maximises rune value.
- Build each Army Camp as it becomes available - This increase attacking strength by allowing you to take more troops into battle.
- Upgrade the Star Laboratory once the troops you use are max level for the previous laboratory level.
- Upgrade to the next BH once you have built any new structures (even if they are only level 1) and upgraded the items mentioned above.
Focus on just upgrading the troops you use to attack and the Cannon Cart in the laboratory, then focus on the Battle Machine.
Use the Clock Tower boost as it becomes available, even if you aren’t able to attack as it will speed up resource production, upgrades and laboratory research.
The Versus Battle Rewards will be your main source of resources. These refresh every 22 hours and roll over once, allowing you have two sets of rewards available back to back. Be sure to win 3 battles and collect these rewards before 44 hours has elapsed to ensure you don’t miss out on any resources.
Attempt to push to higher trophy levels for increased rewards. This will occur naturally as your troops are upgraded and you win more frequently, but you can continue to attack even when you have collected all of the Versus Battle Rewards to trophy push for greater rewards when the next set of Versus Battle Rewards are available.
Save runes until your storages are upgraded and try to use them when your storages are as close to empty as you can. If another rune is available and you already have one, be sure to use the existing one when you can so that the additional one isn’t wasted.
The Gold Pass will help progress quicker with the builder boost reducing time and resource costs, plus magic books and Builder Base runes are often included as Gold Pass rewards.
Purchase resources for the Builder Base using Raid Medals from the Trader which will help you acquire enough resources to keep the Master Builder continually busy.
What happens once the O.T.T.O Hut is fully upgraded?
Once fully upgraded, O.T.T.O becomes available and takes over building duties in the Builder Base. The Master Builder can also continue to be used to upgrade structures within the Builder Base or he can travel to the Home Village and complete upgrades there as a 6th builder. He can travel back and forth between villages when not busy working on an upgrade.

The builder of builders available increases and he can be used for starting builder tasks. To send him back to the Builder Base, tap on the Master Builder’s Hut and press Travel.
Tapping on the O.T.T.O Hut displays the travel buttonUnlocked O.T.T.O but the Master Builder is unable to travel to the Home Village?
The travel button is greyed out when the Master Builder is unable to travelIn order for the Master Builder to be able to travel to the Home Village, he needs somewhere to stay there. When you switch back to the Home Village, the “Unplaced Building” button will display and you are able to place the Master Builder’s Hut within your Home Village. Once that has been placed, the Master Builder is able to travel.
The unplaced buildings button will show in the Home VillageTracking progress towards unlocking O.T.T.O
